About Nai Qala

Who we are

Nai Qala is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organisation founded in 2007 in Switzerland; Nai Qala has an operational office in Kabul with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The association is governed by a board of volunteers with a wide range of experience in humanitarian and development sectors. Nai Qala Association was formally registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan in 2013.

Our Vision:  an educated, healthy and balanced society in which women and men lead together social, cultural and economic changes in an inclusive manner that enable their children – boys and girls to thrive.

Our  Mission: to improve access to education and health in particular for women and girls of marginalized communities in remote areas of the country, mobilize local communities to build strong and empowered communities and foster change through sustainable development of rural Afghanistan.

Nai Qala is coordinating its activities, both in Education and Health sectors with relevant government institutions at provincial and central levels – relevant ministries in Kabul. Nai Qala maintains good working relations with the aid community and coordinates its activities with NGOs and UN agencies working in relevant sectors. Nai Qala respects and recognizes the importance of the community’s role in all aspects of life, therefore, it always coordinates its activities with beneficiary community, values their opinion and ensures their engagement, as the situation warrants, in all phases of programs/projects.


Taiba Rahim

Ms Taiba Rahim, an Afghan national and teacher by training, is president of the Association. She evaluates and supervises the education and health projects. She worked previously with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Afghanistan.
